Hi ,
There is no denying that our world is facing some harsh realities--and I hope our beloved UNITED States is at last coming to terms with the steps and the measures that need to be taken as an UNITED country and as a part of the global community right now.
There are no easy quick fixes and as Dr. Deborah Birx (White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator) explained "There's no magic bullet. There's no magic vaccine or therapy. It is just behaviors, and those behaviors could change the course of the viral pandemic."
At Thanksgiving, a couple of years ago, I posted a blog, Cultivating Good, on the website about using the practices of Yoga (asana and meditation) as a means of mind/body management. Not looking at Yoga to "fix" you but looking in and around you at all of the good stuff--the things that don't need fixing.
I read through the post again today and found that it is even more relevant for today's world--it remains also true that it does not need to be Thanksgiving to give thanks.
A mind management tool that will encourage your body to remain in place, your mind to stop swirling, a practice which in turn translates to a mind and a body that are still-quiet, peaceful, and free of suffering.
Meditation is the original "Stay in Place" order-- a practice utilized by Yoga and Buddhism for several millennia to ease mental suffering. The enlightening benefits of a quiet mind are innumerable and immeasurable.
It begins with a single conscious choice--the decision about where to place your focus. Simply put your focus determines your reality.
Speaking of which:
We all could use some light hearted moments and in that spirit here are two video classes.
First up:
Lynne and Sparky teach Yoga, I found this LOL funny.

A Surprise Cameo brings smiles during this Movement Class
Movement #3 (and Cameo)

Meanwhile I thought I would bring you the studio in pictures:
Bob (the tree is blooming)
The Studio orchids continue to thrive:
The one at the desk is ready to pop open
The one in the window over the bolsters is blooming like mad.
--and one has even reached out to touch Buddha's heart!
The constraints of this current world have brought me some surprising and very welcome company. To keep his family safe my son has temporarily moved in and has set up camp in the "massage" room.
Here is the neat part of his new digs:
Lynne and have been pondering the possibilities of how to best move forward, if you wish to weigh in please do. Still planning--trying to come up with a plan that answers the needs for everyone's new realities, including ours. Hopefully within the coming week we will have our plan.
Virtually Yours--stay safe.
Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions (theyogawhole@gmail.com or 412-892-8740).
Please take care!
